CONVOCATORIA EN ESPAÑOL (ENGLISH BELOW)

La propuesta de dossier tiene como eje nodal a las masculinidades como caleidoscopios para identificar, analizar y comprender la manera en que los sujetos (hombres) participan en política (en sentido amplio) con base en una serie de prácticas, valores y conductas hegemónicas y, tal vez, como una oportunidad para reformular los contratos sexual y social.

La arena de la política es un espacio en donde los hombres han tenido dominio y el Estado la expresión máxima de ello. Las relaciones de mando y obediencia que en él ocurren han sido concebidas desde una perspectiva pretendidamente racional, objetiva y universal.

Una de las principales teóricas y críticas de la relación de desigualdad presente en el Estado es Catharine MacKinnon, quien sostiene que el género es la estructura fundamental de la sociedad que establece la distribución del poder; y, debido a la predominancia de lo masculino, la democracia liberal, también construida desde la visión androcéntrica, al excluir a las mujeres de su condición ciudadana, se vuelve en un instrumento de coerción múltiple: legal, política y social.

El dossier busca analizar la relación entre la masculinidad y el campo de la política en donde entran en contingencia los contratos social y sexual, la sociedad androcéntrica y el orden patriarcal de la sociedad frente a una idea igualitaria de esta.

El género, como categoría, tiene potencia explicativa reflexionar en torno al proceso de construcción y mantenimiento del poder, de la autoridad y del prestigio en un grupo determinado.

El tratamiento de la masculinidad desde la atalaya de la política es reciente, por lo que la revista contribuirá, con trabajos teóricos y empíricos a la discusión no sólo de un concepto sino de prácticas sociales que configuran tipos de sociedades.

Se reciben trabajos escritos en español, inglés y portugués con una extensión no mayor a 10 mil palabras (notas al pie incluidas). Las referencias bibliográficas se enlistan al final del documento y no se consideran en el conteo de palabras.

Son bienvenidos artículos escritos desde la Ciencia Política, las Relaciones Internacionales, la Sociología, la Antropología, la Historia, el Derecho o la Economía, los Estudios de Género; en fin, desde las Ciencias Sociales y las Humanidades.

Los trabajos deberán cumplir, además, con los siguientes lineamientos de formato:

  • Documento Word, espaciado 1.5 líneas, márgenes superior e inferior de 2.5 centímetros e izquierdo y derecho de 3 centímetros;
  • Fuente Times New Roman de 12 puntos;
  • Título del artículo, en español e inglés;
  • Un resumen de máximo 120 palabras, en español e inglés;
  • Un recuento de tres a cinco palabras clave en español y en inglés;
  • Referencias bibliográficas en formato APA (Edición 6), tanto en el cuerpo del texto como en la recapitulación final;
  • En notas de pie de página solo se aceptan comentarios aclaratorios y sugerencias que amplíen la discusión. No debe incluir referencias;
  • Si el artículo contiene figuras, deben ser inéditas o contar con los permisos de reproducción. Deben ser enviadas, en archivo separado, en formato JPEG o TIFF con una resolución de 360 dpi y en escala de grises. En el cuerpo del texto, se indicará cuál sería la colocación óptima de la figura, por ejemplo: [FIGURA 1 Aquí]

Las contribuciones deberán enviarse, a más tardar el 31 de agosto de 2024 a través del sistema editorial en línea gestionado por el Open System Journal (OJS). De no contar con un usuario, las y los autores deberán registrarse en el sistema.

Los trabajos deberán omitir el o los nombres de las y los autores y cualquier referencia a éstos, ya que el proceso de dictaminación debe garantizar el anonimato. Sin embargo, a través de la plataforma OJS, las y los autores deberán proveer a la revista de la siguiente información:

  • Nombre(s) y apellido(s) tal y como aparecerán en el artículo, en caso de ser publicado
  • Ciudad y país de residencia
  • Institución de adscripción actual
  • Breve currículum (no más de 5 líneas) que incluya máximo grado académico y la institución donde lo obtuvo, principales líneas de investigación y sus más recientes publicaciones (máximo 3).

Los manuscritos serán sometidos a un proceso de doble dictaminación por pares y, en caso de ser rechazado, el texto no deberá presentarse nuevamente a la revista.

 

CALL FOR PAPERS 

The proposal for this dossier revolves around masculinities as kaleidoscopes to identify, analyze, and understand the ways in which subjects (men) participate in politics (in a broad sense) based on a series of hegemonic practices, values, and behaviors, and perhaps as an opportunity to reformulate the sexual and social contracts.

The political arena is a space where men have had dominance, with the State being its ultimate expression. The relationships of command and obedience that occur within it have been conceived from a purportedly rational, objective, and universal perspective.

One of the leading theorists and critics of the inequality relationship present in the State is Catharine MacKinnon, who argues that gender is the fundamental structure of society that establishes the distribution of power. Due to the predominance of masculinity, liberal democracy, also constructed from an androcentric vision, by excluding women from their citizen status, becomes a tool of multiple coercion: legal, political, and social.

This dossier seeks to analyze the relationship between masculinity and the field of politics, where the social and sexual contracts, the androcentric society, and the patriarchal order of society are contingent upon an egalitarian idea of it.

Gender, as a category, has explanatory power to reflect on the process of construction and maintenance of power, authority, and prestige in a given group.

The treatment of masculinity from the standpoint of politics is recent, so the journal will contribute with both theoretical and empirical works to the discussion not only of a concept but of social practices that shape types of societies.

Contributions are accepted in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, with a maximum length of 10,000 words (footnotes included). Bibliographical references are listed at the end of the document and are not considered in the word count.

Articles are welcome from Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Law, Economics, Gender Studies; in short, from the Social Sciences and Humanities.

In addition, the following formatting guidelines must be met:

  • Word document, 1.5 line spacing, top and bottom margins of 2.5 centimeters, and left and right margins of 3 centimeters;
  • Times New Roman font, 12 points;

  • Title of the article, in Spanish and English;

  • An abstract of up to 120 words, in Spanish and English;

  • A list of three to five keywords in Spanish and English;

  • Bibliographical references in APA format (6th Edition), both in the body of the text and in the final recapitulation;

  • Footnotes should only include clarifying comments and suggestions that expand the discussion. References should not be included;

  • If the article contains figures, they must be unpublished or have reproduction permissions. They should be sent, in a separate file, in JPEG or TIFF format with a resolution of 360 dpi and in grayscale. In the body of the text, the optimal placement of the figure should be indicated, for example: [FIGURE 1 Here].

Contributions must be submitted no later than August 31, 2024, through the online editorial system managed by the Open System Journal (OJS). If you do not have a user account, authors must register in the system.

Papers must omit the author(s)' name(s) and any reference to them, as the peer review process must guarantee anonymity. However, through the OJS platform, authors must provide the journal with the following information:

  • Name(s) and surname(s) as they will appear in the article, if published
  • City and country of residence
  • Current affiliation institution
  • Brief curriculum (no more than 5 lines) including highest academic degree and the institution where it was obtained, main research lines, and their most recent publications (maximum 3).

Manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process, and if rejected, the text should not be resubmitted to the journal.
